“Our Last Pas de Deux” after Galina Borissova is neither a copy of the original, nor an “original interpretation” but an original–phantom, a mutation of the initial work. Could the interpretation be a new work? Iva Sveshtarova and Willy Prager highlight specific features of the work of the “mutant” choreographer (as she calls herself) Galina Borissova, appropriate and transform them. Is this a theft or homage? Is it an objective portrait or a subjective interpretation? Does irony weaken or strengthen the dramatism? And how a performance on a “living classic” can be made without turning him/her into a museum piece? Or maybe the performance on him/her is a show on us?
“If Petipa had seen us, “The dying swans” would has been a duet even before Fokine had started thinking about making a solo.”
In the performance are used three choreographies by Galina Borissova from “Looking for Versavia” (2001), „Alfred’s best friends“(2003г.) and “Juanita Hildegard Bo” (2004).
The performance is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Etud Foundation, in partnership with The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate.
